VISA

As a U.S. Citizen you may visit Sweden without a visa for up to three months. If asked to do so when entering you need to be able to show that you have sufficient funds for your stay. Since Sweden is a part of the EU (European Union), entry into Sweden is the same as entry into any EU country. You can read more about this and other requirements here. DUTY FREE GOODS

Any visitor to Sweden can bring in one "Trawellers Allowance" of Customs Duty and VAT Free Liqour and Tobacco when entering Sweden. The goods must be intended for non-commercial personal use. When entering from a non-EU country these allowances are:

Alcoholic Beverages-1 litre of spirits, (i.e. an alcoholic beverage exceeding 22% alcohol by volume) OR 2 litres of fortified or sparkling wine (exceeding 15% alcohol by volume but not 22%) AND 2 litres of non fortified wine or other alcoholic beverage exceeding 3.5% but not 15% by volume not including beer, which has no limit other than that it must be included in the 1 700 SEK that is the monetary cap for Duty Free importation and that it must fit within the weight limits that the airline imposes on the amount of luggage you may bring with you. Remember that you must be 20 years of age or more to bring any alcoholic beverages with you into Sweden. Read more here at the customs (Tullveket) website.

 

Tobacco

A trawellers allowance for Tobacco consists of 200 cigarettes OR 100 cheroots (a cylindrical non-tapered type of cigar) OR 50 cigars OR 250 grams of (pipe) tobacco OR a proportional selection of the above products. You must be at least 18 years of age to be allowed to bring any tobacco products at all. Read more here at the customs (Tullverket) website.
